For councils & community organisations

Preparedness education your community will actually use.

A practical, plain-English workshop series for residents, delivered by Disaster Scout. Built to be easy to commission, easy to run, and easy to report on.

One series, three stages Before: getting prepared During: making sense of information and decisions After: regrouping and getting back on track
The workshop series

Three practical sessions. Before, during and after.

Each workshop runs for about 60-90 minutes, online or in person. Run them as a short series, or space them across the year.

Disaster Scout doesn't do death by powerpoint. Our sessions are built for being practical and adaptable to our audience.

Workshop 1 · Before

Getting prepared

Which hazards matter locally, what a household plan actually needs, and how to build a kit without panic-buying.

Workshop 2 · During

Making sense of it

Understanding warnings and official information, where to check, and how to make decisions under pressure.

Workshop 3 · After

Regrouping

Practical first steps afterwards, checking in on each other, and updating your plan with what you’ve learned.

What it delivers

Practical outcomes, honestly reported.

For residents

  • Practical steps they can take straight away
  • A clearer understanding of how to prepare and when to act
  • Resources to use long after the session

For council

  • A concise record of who took part
  • What participants told us, including common questions and gaps
  • Suggested follow-up actions

We report what was delivered and what participants told us. We won’t claim a workshop series alone meets a resilience target.
