Emergency plans your team can actually use at 2am.
A personal emergency plan for every participant, written by an emergency manager. Built around what the NDIS Commission expects, and simple enough for a casual on their first shift.
A template says “evacuate.” It doesn’t say how.
Every participant is different.
Mobility, medication, communication, what calms them down. A generic plan can’t cover the person in room three.
Your team leaders don’t have a spare fortnight.
Writing a proper plan for every participant, in every house, sits at the bottom of a very long list. Until an audit, or a storm.
The person on shift might be new.
Casuals and agency staff don’t know the house. When the power goes out at 2am, they need one page, not a policy manual.
Done for you. Done properly.
A personal emergency plan
- Emergency contacts and support network
- Key health info, medications and care needs
- How they communicate, and what helps
- Mobility aids and equipment
- What happens if you shelter, evacuate or lose power

An emergency manager, not a template.
Almost a decade inside Australian emergency management. Writing the public warnings, running operations, deploying to cyclones, floods and bushfires. I know what actually happens on the night, and what a plan needs to survive it.
Handled with care.
Emergency plans hold personal and health details. They’re collected only with consent, used only to write the plan, and stored securely. Read the privacy statement.
Good questions
Does this meet the NDIS Practice Standards?
The plans are built around the NDIS Commission’s guidance on personal emergency plans and the Emergency and Disaster Management standard. Your audit looks at your whole system, but this covers the participant-plan piece properly.
Are participants involved?
Yes. Each plan is made with the participant and the people who support them, not just written about them.
Where do you work?
Anywhere in Australia. Most of the work happens online, with in-person visits where I can.
Do you work with unregistered providers?
Yes. Every provider should have these plans, registered or not.
How long does it take?
[Typical turnaround for one house.]
Can we update the plans ourselves later?
Yes. You get editable copies. Or I can do your reviews each year so nothing slips.
